Son Goku is introduced in the Dragon Ball manga & anime at 12 years of age formerly; he claims to be 14, though it is later defined during the Tournament Saga that this is because Goku had difficulty counting.
One day, Goku is bumped by a car when on his way back after catching a Giant Fish. Having never viewed a car earlier, he assumes it is a monster attacking him. When the driver shoots Goku with a gun, she becomes scared after seeing that it hardly does any damage and surrenders, revealing herself to be a Human girl, named Bulma.
Akira Toriyama’s franchise has displayed an iconic one despite its natural origins. And, now, we can get a peek at one of Toriyama’s first drawings of Goku and Bulma.
On the official website of Dragon Ball, we can find a new addition to its homepage. There is a special page now that will host rare media pieces from Toriyama for 24-hours. The online exhibit got its start this week, and its first display was a postcard sent by Toriyama.
A postcard posted in October 1984 to members of the Toriyama Preservation Society/ official fan club at the time, in which Goku and Bulma were first revealed to the world a month before the manga began in Jump:
Akira Toriyama – “I’ve finally finished the first chapter’s worth of sketches,” “The title is “Dragon Ball,” and it looks like it’ll be a strange yet fun adventure manga. Look forward to it.”
The sketches of Bulma and Goku look very similar to the ones which Toriyama debuted in Dragon Ball’s first chapter.
